Reading Istanbul: A City in Words

Service Description

Reading Istanbul: A City in Words İstanbul’u Okumak 10 weeks · 1 hour per week · open to all levels Walking through a city is one thing; reading it is another. A language is hidden in Istanbul's street names, its districts, its tea gardens and ferry landings — and this course sets out to decipher it. Week by week the city is opened in layers: its names, its neighbourhoods, its migrations, its kitchen, its taverns, its songs and its noise. Each week takes one district or one theme, a few short texts and a great deal of vocabulary. Discussion is led largely in English and the course is open to participants at every level. * The course starts during the first week of October and concludes in the second week of December, spanning 10 weeks (20 sessions). The exact days and times will be scheduled based on the availability of both the instructor and the learners. * Once learners enroll, Silk Road Academy will coordinate the class schedule, process payments, and manage administrative details. * Silk Road Academy can issue invoices so learners can request reimbursement from their affiliated universities or institutions. * Class days and times may be adjusted in accordance with the request of enrollees. * Registered participants will receive full access to recorded session videos and all course materials.
